Floodgates
The core ideas of Jericho are hospitality and refuge. In alignment with this we are launching a programme of grassroots
performance work with displaced individuals and refugees in London. Our work maintains a particular focus on the experiences of women,
who remain the most vulnerable and least visible participants in the twenty-first century explosion in mass migration and community displacement.
The theme of this programme is ‘Floodgates’. The title connects obviously to the topics of Jericho shows
such as Katrina and The Tempest,
but is intended
also to act as a metaphor for the experiences of
anyone who has reached the UK after undergoing
a range of overwhelming experiences.
